Die Arbeiten am Tower of Terror gehen endlich weiter, wie schon berichtet. Doch wann wird er seine Pforten öffnen? Offiziell ist von 2008 die Rede, doch nach der langen Sommerauszeit, die Beeinträchtigungen der Gäste verhindern sollte, stellen sich einige Fans schon die Frage, ob das noch machbar ist. Das Management stellt sich scheinbar andere Fragen, denn Quellen haben uns informiert, dass man sogar eine frühere Eröffnung 2007 in Betracht zieht. Und zwar nicht irgendwann 2007, sondern an einem ganz besonderen Tag, der perfekt zur geisterhaften Geschichte der Attraktion passt ... an Halloween!! Es scheinen Pläne zu existieren, den Tower offiziell am 31. Oktober 2007 zu eröffnen als besondere Überraschungen während einer Halloween Feier in den Walt Disney Studios! Teilweise wird sogar angedeutet, dass das Entertainment Department darüber nachdenke, bei dieser Gelegenheit eine neue Halloween Party in den Studios zu etaiblieren, die sich nicht an Familien mit Kindern, sondern an Teenager und Erwachesene richtet.
Ausgehend davon, dass der Tower eine Kopie der Attraktion aus Disney's California Adventure sein soll (da dort die Pläne umgesetzt wurden, die eigentlich für die Studios entworfen wurden) und dem Bauablauf dort, scheint ein solches ambitioniertes Ziel möglich - aber bis wir genaueres wissen, wird es noch eine Weile dauern.
In der Zwischenzeit sind im DLP.info Forum neue Informationen aufgetaucht, die bestätigen, dass die Attraktion drei Aufzüge haben wird mit einer Kapazität von je 21 Gästen. Jeder Platz ist mit einem Beckengurt ausgerüstet (wie in den US-Versionen, nachdem der Tower in Walt Disney World zwischenzeitlich auch umgerüstet wurde). Das Gebäude ist demnach als Hotel aus den 20er Jahren gestaltet, passend zum Themeing des Frontlot als Hollywood Studio in den 20ern. Im Inneren werden Gäste erst eine Pre-Show in einer Bibliothek erleben und dann durch den Boiler-Raum die Aufzüge besteigen (wie in DCA). Allerdings gibt es auch eine völlig neue Information: die Attraktion "könnte" mit FastPass augestattet sein. Soll heißen: eine Entscheidung ist noch nicht gefallen.

Officially it is scheduled to open in 2008, but after the long out-time over the summer season to minimize impact on guests some fans where wondering, whether the schedule was still manageable. Seems so as now sources indicate that at least parts of management are shooting for an even earlier opening in 2007. But not any date in 2007, instead a special date suiting the backstory of the right about a haunted hotel ... Halloween!! It seems there are plans currently to open the ride officially on October 31st, 2007 as special treat during a Halloween celebration in the Walt Disney Studios! There are even sources hinting, that entertainment may use this opportunity to introduce a Halloween Party in the studios targeting not families, but teenager and adult guests.
Based on the fact, that the ride is supposed to be a clone of the Tower in Disney's California Adventure (which used the plans created especially for the WDS in the first place) and the construction time there, in theorey such an ambitious schedule would be possible - but it will take a bit longer till we know for sure.
In the meantime new information has surfaced on the DLP.info Forum confirming that the ride will have 3 elevators, seatin 21 guests each, all seats equipped with seat belts (as in the US versions, since the lap bars have been replaced with seat belts in Walt Disney World), will be themed as a hotel in the 1920s (fitting to the themeing of the Frontlot / Studio 1 as a Hollywood movie studios in the 1920s) and will have guests experiencing a pre-show in a library before accessing the elevators through the boiler room (just as in DCA). But there is also some new information which pops up for the first time: the ride "could be equipped with FastPass". So it seems no decision has been made yet.
